Get Active Kids Voucher Geelong: How to Use Your $200 at Carbon Gym

Sport costs add up fast. Memberships, gear, uniforms. A Get Active Kids voucher Geelong families can use at Carbon Gym takes up to $200 off, and for a lot of families that’s the thing standing between their kid and a sport they’d love.

That’s exactly what the Get Active Kids Voucher is for. It’s a Victorian Government program that takes up to $200 off the cost of your child’s sport or active recreation membership. And Carbon Gym is a registered provider, which means you can put that voucher towards kids Muay Thai, kids BJJ or teen boxing right here in Norlane.

We get a lot of questions about how it works. Who can apply? When do rounds open? What happens if you already have a voucher? So we’ve put everything in one place.

Below you’ll find what the program is, who’s eligible, the Round 11 dates, how to apply next time, and exactly how to use a Round 11 voucher with us. We’ve also laid out what $200 actually gets you at Carbon, so there are no surprises.

What Is the Get Active Kids Voucher Program?

The Get Active Kids Voucher Program is a Victorian Government initiative that gives eligible families up to $200 per child towards sport and active recreation costs. The money covers membership and registration fees at registered activity providers, including gear that’s bundled into those fees. Families apply in rounds, usually twice a year.

The program was first announced on 1 November 2020 to help kids get involved in sport when cost is the barrier. It’s become one of the most popular family programs in the state. More than 270,000 vouchers were taken up over the first 10 rounds.

Why does it matter? The government’s own figures say around 80% of Victorian kids aren’t getting the recommended amount of physical activity. And according to the Minister, data from a previous round showed more than 60% of voucher kids wouldn’t have been able to play their chosen sport without it.

The state has also committed $23 million to keep the program running through to 2027. So more rounds are expected.

There are two ways the program pays out:

  • Voucher: you apply, get a code by email, and give it to your chosen provider when you pay.
  • Reimbursement: you pay the provider first, then claim the money back from the government with proof of payment.

Who Is Eligible for a Get Active Kids Voucher?

Your child is eligible if they’re aged 0 to 18, live in Victoria, and fit one of four groups: named on a Health Care Card and Medicare Card, named on a Pensioner Concession Card and Medicare Card, hold a temporary, provisional or student visa (or are an undocumented migrant), or live in Victorian care services or kinship care.

Those are the official eligibility rules listed on the Get Active Victoria website. A few things worth knowing:

If you’re not sure whether your family qualifies, the Get Active Kids team can tell you. Call them on 1800 325 206, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

What Date

The guidelines originally listed a mid October close, with a note that the round could shut early if the money ran out. The official site now confirms it closed on 22 October.

How Do You Apply for a Get Active Kids Voucher?

When a round is open, you apply online through the Service Victoria portal. Check your child is eligible, choose your registered activity provider (that’s us), enter your card and Medicare details, and submit. Health Care and Pensioner Concession Card applicants usually get their voucher code by email within 24 hours.

Here’s the process, step by step, based on the official applicant guidelines:

  1. Check eligibility. Make sure your child fits one of the four groups above.
  2. Pick your provider first. Search for “Carbon Gym” in the provider search when you apply. Choose carefully, because vouchers are locked to the provider you select.
  3. Have your details ready. Card number, expiry date, card holder’s name, Medicare number, your child’s name exactly as it appears on Medicare, and their reference number.
  4. Submit and check your inbox. Each child gets their own voucher code. Check your spam folder if it doesn’t show up within a day.
  5. Bring the code to us. We apply it when you sign up and take up to $200 off.

One important rule: you can’t change provider or cancel a voucher once it’s issued, except in exceptional circumstances. So give us a call on 03 5221 7747 before you apply. We’ll confirm there’s a spot and a class time that suits your family.

At Carbon Gym, your $200 voucher gives you two choices. Use it on its own and your child gets 5 weeks of classes completely covered by the government, with nothing out of pocket. Or add $150 and your child gets our full Kids 10 Week Membership.

Option 1: 5 weeks, fully subsidised

  • Cost to you: $0
  • Your voucher covers 5 weeks of kids classes
  • Great if your child is trying martial arts for the first time

Option 2: Kids 10 Week Membership

  • Cost to you: $150 (on top of the $200 voucher)
  • Double the time on the mats
  • Our pick if your child already knows they love it, because 10 weeks is where real skills and habits start to stick

Either way, there’s no special pricing trick. Registered providers have to charge voucher families the same as everyone else, so you’re getting the exact same program every other Carbon kid gets.
