Custom Mouthguards in Geelong: Gameface Mobile Fitting at Carbon Gym
TL;DR: Gameface Mouthguards is bringing their mobile 3D scanning service to Carbon Gym Geelong on Monday 20 April from 6pm. Members and locals can get a custom fitted mouthguard scanned on the spot, choose from 36 colours and patterns, and have it made by dental professionals within two weeks. Standard guards are $160 and premium designs are $225, both eligible for private health rebates.

If you train martial arts, box, play footy, hockey or rugby in Geelong, your teeth are one hit away from a problem you can’t undo. A boil and bite mouthguard from the chemist is better than nothing, but it isn’t the same as a custom fitted guard made from a 3D scan of your actual mouth. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Gameface Mouthguards for a one night mobile fitting at Carbon Gym on Monday 20 April from 6pm.
No dentist appointment. No messy putty trays. Just turn up, get scanned, pick a colour, and walk out two weeks later with a guard that actually fits.
What is Gameface Mouthguards?
Gameface Mouthguards is a Geelong based mobile mouthguard service run by dental professional Brigitte. She brings the full setup to clubs, schools and gyms, takes a 3D scan of your teeth, and has every guard custom made by dental professionals before personally returning to fit check it.
The service exists for one reason: most athletes never get around to booking a dentist for a custom guard, even when they know they should. Bringing the chair to the gym removes that excuse.

Why does a custom fitted mouthguard matter for combat sports and contact sports?
A custom fitted mouthguard absorbs and spreads impact across your teeth and jaw far better than a generic boil and bite guard. It also lets you breathe easier, talk clearer, and stay focused on training instead of constantly resetting it with your tongue. For contact and combat sport athletes, that fit difference is the line between a normal session and a chipped tooth or worse.
The Australian Dental Association recommends a professionally custom fitted mouthguard for anyone playing a sport where contact to the face is possible. That includes boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, MMA, AFL, rugby, hockey and basketball.
Dental injuries are also expensive. A single knocked out front tooth can cost thousands over a lifetime in repairs, root canals and replacements. A $160 guard is one of the cheapest insurance policies you’ll ever buy.
How does the 3D scanning process work?
Brigitte uses an intraoral 3D scanner that maps your teeth in a few minutes. It’s faster, cleaner and far more comfortable than the old gag reflex inducing putty trays. Once the scan is done, you pick your colour or pattern from the Gameface range (36 colours, neons, marbled, layered, plus custom graphics and text), and the file is sent off to be made by dental professionals.
Two weeks later, Brigitte comes back to Carbon Gym personally to fit check every guard and make sure you’re happy with it.

Who is the mobile fitting at Carbon Gym for?
The fitting night is open to all Carbon Gym members and their families, plus anyone in the wider North Geelong community who trains a sport that needs mouth protection. That includes our boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA crew, our kids martial arts families, teen boxing athletes, and anyone playing footy, rugby, hockey or any other contact sport on weekends.
For athletes under 16 with growing teeth or kids in braces, custom guards can be made to accommodate orthodontic changes. For adults, a well looked after Gameface guard can last several years, as long as no major dental work changes the fit.
How much does a Gameface Mouthguard cost?
Standard Gameface Mouthguards are $160 each. Premium designs with custom text or graphics are $225. Payment is taken in full at the fitting, and you’ll be issued an invoice that can be used to claim a rebate through your private health insurance (most major funds include mouthguards under general dental).
There’s no booking fee, no deposit, and no obligation to buy if you just want to come and have a look at the colour range first.
What should I bring on the night?
Just yourself, clean teeth, and a rough idea of the colour or design you want (or come in with no clue and make it up on the spot, plenty of people do). If you’re booking for a child, bring them along so Brigitte can do the scan in person. The whole process from scan to colour pick takes around 10 to 15 minutes per person.
If you can’t make it on the night but want a guard, message Carbon Gym and we’ll let Brigitte know.
Why we’re hosting this at Carbon Gym
We run boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA classes most nights of the week, and a properly fitted mouthguard is non negotiable for sparring. Plenty of our members have been meaning to get a custom one for months. Bringing Brigitte to the gym means you can sort it before or after a session without losing a Saturday morning at the dentist.
It’s also part of how we look after our community. If you want to see what our timetable looks like or you’ve been thinking about trying a class, the intro offer is the easiest way to get started.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a Carbon Gym member to get a mouthguard fitted on the night?
No. The fitting night is open to anyone in Geelong who wants a custom mouthguard. Members, family members, friends, and locals from any sport are all welcome to walk in from 6pm on Monday 20 April.
How long does a Gameface Mouthguard last?
For adults, a well cared for custom mouthguard can last several years, provided no major dental work changes the shape of your teeth. For kids and teens with growing mouths or orthodontic treatment, replacements are usually needed more often.
Can I claim a custom mouthguard on private health insurance?
Yes. Most Australian private health funds cover custom mouthguards under general dental extras. You’ll be issued a paid invoice on the night that you can submit to your fund for a rebate. Check with your provider for the exact amount covered.
Is 3D scanning more comfortable than traditional dental moulds?
Yes, by a long way. The scanner is a small wand that takes a few minutes to map your teeth digitally. There’s no putty, no gag reflex, and no waiting around with a tray in your mouth. Most people are surprised by how quick and easy it is.
What sports actually need a custom mouthguard?
Any sport with contact to the face. That includes boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, MMA and other martial arts, plus AFL, rugby, hockey, basketball, soccer and skating. The Australian Dental Association recommends a professionally custom fitted guard for all of these.
