Inspired by his father, Senpai Marcel commenced his martial arts journey at the young age of five in Geelong. Under Sensei Gary Vickars’ guidance, he achieved a 3rd Kyu (Green Belt) by his tenth birthday. Marcel continued his training with Sensei Savio Santimano at the Haringey Kyokushinkai Karate (HKK) Dojo in London, achieving notable success, including securing 1st place in the Men’s Novice Lightweight Division at the 2009 British Kyokushinkai Karate Regional Knockdown Championships.
In 2010, Marcel attained the Shodan (Black Belt), certified by Hanshi Steve Arneil. His six-year tenure in the UK allowed him to attend various instructor courses and training camps, interacting with distinguished instructors from the International Federation of Karate (IFK) and British Karate Kyokushikai (BKK), including Hanshi Steve Arneil, Shihan Liam Keaveney, and Shihan David Picthall.
Returning to Australia in 2011, Marcel established the Kaizen Dojo Kyokushinkai. He represented Australia at the 2014 IFK World Kata Tournament held in Belgium. Marcel’s dedication extended to his role as a Committee Member of IFK Australia Inc from 2012 to 2016.
